I. SUMMER TRUMPET ACADEMY

The I. Summer Trumpet Academy will take place from August 24 to August 29, 2025, at Ribniška Koča, nestled in the heart of Pohorje on a small plateau just below Mali Črni Vrh (1,507 meters above sea level). It is intended for trumpet players studying at primary or secondary music schools, conservatories, academies, or universities in Slovenia or abroad. Lectures and lessons at the academy will be conducted in Slovene, with English available in the case of international participants.

GOALS

The Summer Trumpet Academy is intended for young musicians who are seriously considering a professional music career. The academy aims to connect and educate ambitious trumpet players from Slovenia and abroad, offering them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills at the highest level. By hosting internationally renowned musicians and educators, the academy provides top-quality lectures, individual lessons, and group classes that support participants on their journey to professional musical engagement. All activities take place in the heart of nature, offering a tranquil environment that ensures optimal conditions for work, living, and artistic creation at a high professional standard.

WORKFLOW AND MENTORS

We have designed a diverse program for the Summer Trumpet Academy that combines intensive work with creative inspiration. The activities will run from morning to evening under the expert guidance of the academy’s leader, Professor Jure Gradišnik, and his assistant, Professor Tobija Hrastnik. Pianist Sašo Vollmaier will accompany the participants on the piano, and we will also collaborate with Janez Vidrih, an expert in breathing techniques, manual therapies, and Dearmouring. All activities take place in the heart of nature, providing ideal conditions for work, living, and high-level creation. Every participant will also have daily individual practice.

The program includes:

• Daily morning group warm-ups: Optimizing physical and mental readiness.
• Daily group lessons: Focusing on improving technical fundamentals such as breathing, articulation, and intonation.
• Daily chamber music lessons: Enhancing ensemble performance, sound, and interpretation.
• Three individual lessons with the lead professor: In-depth work on technical and interpretative skills.
• Two individual lessons with the assistant: Continuous and targeted progression of work initiated with the visiting professor.
• Breathing techniques and body activation workshops: holistic approach to work, creation, and effective preparation for important performances.
• Accompaniment sessions before the concert: Refining interpretation and achieving a cohesive musical expression.
• Final concert: Showcasing the participants’ progress and achievements.

PARTICIPANT ARRIVAL AND SCHEDULE

We will meet for dinner on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Ribniška Koča, where the entire academy will take place. Upon arrival, you will receive the detailed work schedule, and the program will officially begin immediately after dinner with the first group lesson.

The Summer Trumpet Academy will conclude on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 5:00 PM with a final concert by the academy participants, held at Kienhofen Castle in Muta.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

Participants will be provided with full board and accommodated at the Ribniška Koča, where all lessons of the Summer Academy will also take place. The price of the summer academy includes, in addition to the educational program:

• 5 nights of accommodation,
• 5 days of full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner),
• Free internet access.

REGISTRATION FORM

To register for the Summer Trumpet Academy, please complete the registration form below. The application must include payment confirmation and the sheet music for the piano accompaniment of the proposed program. The registration deadline is May 31, 2025.

The number of participants is limited, so registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. In case of insufficient registrations, the Summer Academy will be canceled.
