DISCIPLINES

For WOODWIND players, International Music Competition BOLERO will be held in five different competition disciplines, which will take place separately:

  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Saxophone
  • Oboe
  • Bassoon

CATEGORIES

Within the competition disciplines above, the participants of the competition will be divided into categories according to the year of birth, namely:

  • Junior Category – born in 2014 and later
  • 1st Category – born in 2012 and 2013
  • 2nd Category – born 2010 and 2011
  • 3rd Category – born in 2008 and 2009

PROGRAMME

Junior Category – one piece or more, up to 4 minutes

  • Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration*
  • At least one piece is to be performed by heart.

1st Category – two pieces or more, up to 6 minutes

  • Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration*
  • At least one piece is to be performed by heart.

2nd Category – three pieces or more, up to 9 minutes

  • Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration*
  • At least one piece is to be performed by heart.

3rd Category – three pieces or more, up to 12 minutes

  • Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration*
  • At least one piece is to be performed by heart.

* Instead of pieces, competitors in all competition disciplines and categories can perform individual movement from cyclic compositions (concerts, sonatas and others).

Competitors and mentors are advised to choose a technically and character-diverse repertoire, with which each participant in the competition presents himself as comprehensively as possible.

In all disciplines and categories, competitors can perform pieces for woodwinds solo, pieces for woodwinds with piano accompaniment and pieces for woodwinds with audio tape in all competition disciplines. It is also permitted to perform arrangements of compositions originally written for other instruments or instrumental bands.  YAMAHA G3 Concert piano and sound system (USB, CD) are available in the hall.
