The saxophonist, born in Andalusia, is a laureate of numerous international competitions, including the Adolphe Sax Competition in Paris and the SaxoVoce Competition in Paris. She won first prize at the competition of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and was awarded Best Woodwind Player at the Spanish Intercentros-Melómano Competition, one of the most prestigious accolades for this instrument.
She completed her Konzertexamen with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under the guidance of the renowned Canadian professor Daniel Gauthier. Additionally, she obtained a Master’s degree in Contemporary Music and reached the semifinals of the International Adolphe Sax Competition in Dinant in 2019.
At the age of 28, she was appointed as a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, a position she has continued to hold since 2021 alongside her active music career.
Her musical repertoire spans both contemporary and classical music. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as John Axelrod and Hernández Silva and has performed as a soloist under Alexander Rumpf in Cologne and Juan García in Seville.
Her artistic journey has been supported by numerous foundations and scholarships, leading her to perform in prestigious concert halls (Kölner Philharmonie, Duisburger Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Teatro Maestranza in Seville…) and at internationally recognized festivals (Festival Liedberg, Eigenzeit, Acht Brücken…). She is also regularly invited to collaborate with renowned chamber music ensembles such as Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Notabu, and frequently conducts masterclasses in cities such as Seville, Granada, Huelva, and Maastricht.
She is the soprano saxophonist of the Eternum Saxophone Quartet, where she expresses her passion for chamber music. Mari Ángeles Del Valle plays on Henri Selmer Paris instruments.
